Backlinks are the best for ranking in Google.

February 1, 2010 by · 5 Comments

For a good position in search engines especially in Google links from other websites to the own site are very important. There are several types of links and it is always clever to know a little bit about it.

You can exchange links with another site. Therefore you get in touch with the webmaster and offer him a link. If he agrees you get a backlink from his site to your site. Those links are reciprocal links or Two Way Links. You should make sure that you get links from related websites, it will be better appreciated by Google. Look for links from your competitors, they are most related. But you would rather sell your own product and do not want to recommend the product of your competitors. more..Getting Backlinks

Two Way Links don’t increase your ranking significantly in Google, certainly they are better than no links. What Google loves are One Way Links. Thats a link pointing from the other website to your website, and you don’t link back to the other site. You can get such links from web directories. But they are not very important for search engines. Because they are very related, One Way Links from your competitors would be again the best. But nobody wants to link to your site and get nothing in return.

But if you have 2 partners B and C, you can proceed in a different way. You (A) link to B and B links to C and not back to A. C gets a link from B and in return links to A. All are linked in a triangle: A -> B -> C -> A. Everyone gets an incoming link, but for which there is no direct outgoing link. Google sees only incoming One-Way Links, that’s the best for the ranking. more..getting many backlinks

So with smart linking you can achieve better ranking if you have many websites. What do you do, if you have only one ore a few sites. The solution for this are Link Networks. Thousands of sites of the members are linked all together. For a low monthly fee, the three- or polygonal linking takes place over the network. more..Getting Backlinks

The First Examples of Glassware: Ancient Egypt

December 20, 2009 by · 12 Comments

This glass is more than merely antique; in fact it’s literally ancient. While glass itself may first have been invented and used by the ancient Phoenicians, where Lebanon is today, the earliest known examples of glassware actually come from ancient Egypt.

During the Old Kingdom, glass was mixed with other substances to create decorative beads, amulets, and small figurines. These became more plentiful as the Old and Middle Kingdoms progressed. But genuine glass vessels first made their appearance around the time of Thutmose I, at the end of the 16th century BCE.

Some people believe this new use for glass occurred because Egypt had begun to expand its sphere of influence farther into the Middle East. If that was the case, and glass really was invented by the Phoenicians, the Egyptians could have found it in areas where those people traded, and brought this innovation back to Egypt. They might have brought craftsmen back to their country, whether as slaves or volunteer teachers.

In the beginning of the practice of the glass making craft in Egypt, production was a royal monopoly, and the main beneficiaries were the royal court, priests, and high officials of the land. It’s no coincidence that the glass making workshops that have been discovered have pretty much all been adjacent to royal palaces.

The search for workshops such as these took some time, and archeologists have uncovered them only gradually. Some might think it odd that tomb paintings, which often portray other industries like fishing, building, bread making, shipping, hunting, and so on, do not include glass making among them. That might have helped the search for Egyptian glass making find results much earlier.

But it was not unusual for industries that fell under royal monopoly not to be painted in the tombs. These paintings were done for the purpose of showing what was connected to the tomb owner’s life in particular. So if he had land where people grew grain and prepared bread, that would be painted. If he or his tenants engaged in fishing, that would be there as well. But since none of the aristocracy owned glass making shops, those would not be portrayed in the paintings.

The glass itself was made from a silica-sand, lime, and soda mixture. Egyptian glass vessels were created by first forming a core of clay and sand, and then this core, in the shape of the interior of the future vessel, was dipped into a crucible of molten glass and turned several times to coat it with several layers. Before the end product cooled, that was when lines and other decorations were made in it. Once the whole thing was cool, the core was scraped out. Various colors were produced with different sorts of pigments: tin or lead oxide produced a milky white color, copper oxides produced red or orange, and so on.

The Egyptians produced mostly smaller vessels of glass such as little bottles, bowls, or goblets. The bottles often held perfumes, and most of the glassware was destined for high-born women, to be used for cosmetics and fragrances.

Production of glass stopped for a while after the New Kingdom ended, perhaps around 1077 BCE, and didn’t arise again until the Graeco-Roman period a few hundred years later. But despite some of the fits and starts that Egyptian production went through, it’s clear that the use of glassware goes back a long way, and glass vessels have been important to human beings, both for their beauty and their utility, for almost as far back as you can go.

Three Ways to Avoid Flood Damaged Sports Cars

December 10, 2009 by · 9 Comments

The recent natural disasters along the U.S. gulf coast reminds us of an important factor in purchasing sports cars-the need to avoid purchasing a flood-damaged vehicle.

A sports car that has been flooded is likely to experience numerous difficulties that will shorten its lifespan.

Among the risks is the greater likelihood of significant rust problems. A previously soaked interior lends itself to rusting out floorboards and other often hidden spots.

More importantly, however, are the very real mechanical problems that can come about due to the flooding of a sports car. If water levels reached a high enough point, it is possible that grit, grime and water entered the engine and exhaust system. The residue can significantly impair performance and can shorten the car’s effective life considerably.

Flooded sports cars also frequently suffer from electrical problems. A soaked electrical system lends itself to corrosion and an increased risk of short circuits. Repairs will be necessary, and electrical work can bring with it considerable expense.

Fortunately, it is possible to avoid purchasing a sports car that has been flooded. There are a few things you can easily due to mitigate the risk of acquiring a previously flooded car.

First, perform an automobile history check through a service such as CarFax. Although not foolproof, this kind of check can tell you if any flood-related insurance claims were made with respect to the vehicle and may provide you with other information hinting at water-related problems.

Secondly, beware of too much new car smell. A soggy car is likely to start producing interior mold and an unscrupulous seller may attempt to hide this telltale sign of flood damage by utilizing strong deodorants. An unaware buyer may purchase the car and not smell the hint of flood damage until some time after the purchase is made. If a car smells “too good” or seems to be over-deodorized, make sure to take extra time to investigate possible flooding.

Finally, advise your mechanic to look for signs of water damage. Any time you buy a sports car, particularly a used model, you should have your mechanic evaluate the vehicle. If you have reason to be concerned about potential flood history, remind your mechanic to be on the lookout for any water damage indicators.

The great devastation wrought by floods has been known to bring out the best in people willing to help those adversely affected. Unfortunately, history also indicates there will be people willing to profit on sports cars impacted by storms without offering full disclosure of past water damage. Do not allow yourself to be victimized by the seller of a once-flooded car, take steps to protect yourself from these unscrupulous sellers.

How to Select The Best Affiliate Program

November 10, 2009 by · 7 Comments

Merchants can improve their stores and increase their conversions using the tips I have included here as well. Besides this post I encourage them to check out the How to Make Money Blogging post featured in this comment. Merchants – Sell your products online and run your affiliate program. Get paid instantly to your account, recruit affiliates on affiliate marketplace.

Online casio business is operated by mega large companies based in Caribbean and Europe. They offer affilliate programs where you can earn money.

Online affiliate marketing is a way of making money by joining with the affiliate network of a company and place a link of the product or service offered by that company in our website. When a person buys a product by visiting this link we will be getting an amount as commission.

Choose products that are of high quality to promote and advertise on your web site. These types of products will most likely have a first-class sales page and once your visitors go to their sites, they are more apt to make a purchase. Choosing the best companies is an art in itself. Choose affiliate program that are already successful and well established like SFI . Choose a topic in which you are passionately interested, and create a web site around that theme. Then select affiliate programs which fit the theme of your site and blend them into the site.

Choosing a domain name is very important step in the entire process of building a website, and due to the recent “gold rush” for domain names, it can also be one of the most difficult. It may seem that nearly all “good” names have been registered. Choose those programs that will be the best affiliate programs for you ! Choose the ones that have a generous commission structure. Have products that fit in with your target audience.

Check with other affiliates in the program to see if you can find out what their experience has been with them. Although the program’s success depends on you, this is still very important.

Conversion is important as well. When you look at the sales page provided by the affiliate company, read it. Conversion rate refers to the number of online visitors that have actually purchased any product from the website of the affiliate program. Hence, the popularity of the website or the high conversion rate of an affiliate program is also a good indicator of higher possibilities of sales and thereby adding onto the commission or profit of the affiliate.

Information is needed to make the appropriate choices and it helps when you have already focused your search to a distinct niche, which might be the theme of your website (if you already have one). In this way, you will point yourself at a program that perfectly matches your niche, wants and resources that you are offering. Information that you need to ensure the right choice. It is helpful if you have already focused your search to a particular interest in the topic of your website (if you already have one).

Website owners use blog to communicate with customers, or write their dairy, etc. But do you know that you can make use of this latest hit to make money? Web site tracking and how long they stay in the system? You need to have sufficient procedures to track the people you refer from your web site. Webmaster affiliates and blog affiliates know that traffic generates affiliate sales. The higher the traffic the higher the affiliate sales.

Free games online

August 20, 2009 by · 3 Comments

Games were always popular on the internet and now more and more games are online and free for the people to use. Most of these free gaming sites are very popular and new are coming up all the time. So the question arises. Why a webmaster will build such a site. As always the answer is simple. Money. Because these websites become quite popular very fast especially with some kind of advertising promotion their repeating visitors user base is growing fast. The result is thousands and thousands of hits every time and this easily converts to clicks and money for the webmaster.

On the other side building such a website is not very easy except if you buy a commercial package with thousands of free games. But doing this you are competing with a thousand other websites that are using this software as well. This is not good in the eyes of the search engine bots because of duplicate content and other issues.

Talking about return of investment for such websites to my knowledge is very low or in some cases very late. With all this competitions this kind of websites cannot depend on search engine traffic and must rely on paid advertisement. Until the user base will grow large enough the return of investment is poor. An example of such a website you can find to the following link. Free games online.

By taking a look in his alexa stats we can easily see that this site is new and search engines just started to index it.

Let’s wish it good luck!

Clickable Maps and How To Make Them Fast

July 31, 2009 by · 6 Comments

For many website owners it could be helpful to have a link to various geometric areas of the world or of their territory, whether it be for location specific information, sales of products or types of a directory. A visual image like a map with areas that are clickable would be the right idea. Visitors can be presented with a clickable map of Europe rather than a bunch of links or a dropdown menu for Europe.

It takes time and care for a webmaster to make a clickable map and it would be an impressive addition to the website content. Even for Joomla users, it’s fast and easy to add a clickable map.

First you need to find the correct size of map, either by scanning and reducing to desired size and then working to make it clear and colorful in a decent image program. That includes enhancing the boundaries of the states that you will eventually make clickable.

Next, the difficult part is to import the map image into a html editor or some map editing software that is capable of drawing clickable regions upon the image and in turn make these hotspots into readable coordinates within the html code and when that is done each region will be clickable when presented in the browser.

Each clickable region can hyperlink to an url of your choice so for a clickable state map of Ireland for example can link to an informative page for your visitors when they choose Wales, Ireland, Yorkshire etc etc Great for sending visitors to images or your affiliate links or regional news as another example.

Of course all this work to make a clickable map is too time consuming or probably unfathomable for some people without knowledge of making websites but the vast majority know how to add hyperlinks.

You can find ready made clickable maps of Europeat clickablemaps.com or the webmaster can make one just for you. Clickable maps of Asia, UK, USA and Europe are all available and with the new MapHilight JQuery Plugin by David Lynch. Now that would save time and a nice idea too.

Who’s the cutest baby in the world?

April 11, 2009 by · 5 Comments

Now, before you start thinking that I’m full of myself, let me explain what this is really all about.

In a blog post I made, I talked about the need for your site to actually be related to the links that point to it. One example I gave was the cutest baby on the planet search phrase, versus the miserable failure search phrase.

In the past, searching for “miserable failure” brought up a completely unrelated web page. Due to Google’s new algorithm that does away with the “Google bomb” or “link bomb” effect, that is no longer the case.

My post discussed why this doesn’t work anymore.

In one of the comments on that post, Alex Newell suggested that I setup a site and try to get it to rank for the phrase “cutest baby in the world”, using the site to test various linking strategies and methods, etc.

Thus my the coolest baby on the planet site was born.

What I am attempting to prove is that by following the directions Google gives in its Webmaster Guidelines, you can rank a site for a keyword phrase using 100% “white hat” methods.

In the pages of the site you will see outlined the methods I am using, and the progress I am making in implementing each of the steps from Google’s guidelines.

As of right now, the site is ranked #1 in Google for “cutest baby in the world”, but I also want to be ranked #1 for “the cutest baby on the planet”, so I’m still working on it.

How to find keyword niches

February 14, 2009 by · 9 Comments

Are you a new webmaster? And looking for a niche place in the cyber world? Or simply looking for a great rating among the search results of major search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN? In any case, you must indulge in finding keywords. Yes, by finding keywords, that are apt and according to your niche market, you will certainly be able to improvise on your search engine ranking.

The purpose of searching keywords is to find out the exact phrases that are requested by people in the searches carried in the major search engines. If your website has the relevant information about the most searched terms and keywords, your website would be rated higher by the major search engines. The entire process of improving search engine ranking for a website is a wide process and is called search engine optimization. Finding keywords is one of the most important parts of search engine optimization. To start the keyword search for your website, make a list of the keywords related to your website. You can easily find the keywords by using online keyword services.

A lot are trying their luck a long tail keywords. This is a searched for term that contains several words which are very targeted, and can pay nicely.Another is niche keywords .This is a niche where the searchs are even more target than the long tails. You can get niche keywords software That will help greatly, but dont be fooled by all the hype of the freebie niche keyword services.

One popular keyword service provider on the web is word tracker. Using word tracker tools and services, all you have to do is to type a keyword and wait for the list to appear on the computer screen. And you will you have a direct access to hundreds of keywords related to the keyword you have typed in the box. For instance: your website is a website that markets and promotes skin products. Type the word “skin” and you will have all the top keywords related to skin. The keywords will be something like: skin care, oily skin, skin diseases, skin products, animal skin and so on. Now you have to select the relevant keywords for your website. You cannot choose animal skin for your site which caters specifically to the human skin cosmetics and skin care. Yes you can include the keywords like skin care, skin cream, dry skin, oily skin and many others.

You have a number of keyword services and tools that can help you find the most searched keywords for your website. While you select the keyword with the help of these tools, you will also come to know how many number of times the keyword has been searched on the internet.

Let us go back to skin example: suppose you select dry skin, you can also track the exact number of times “dry skin” has been searched on the internet. The number can be some thousand times. Incase you choose “dry skin type”, the number of searches can be less. So, you are suggested to select the keyword with a higher search count first. Another tricky method of finding keywords is to keep an eye on your competitors. Look at the meta-tags of your competitors website. The meta-tags are a good source of significant keywords.

You can also seek help from your customers regarding the keywords they use in their search. Having a weblog page in your website is also helpful in tracking the keywords. Each weblog page has a link which shows the keywords being used to search your page. Once you have the right keywords in hand, you can hit the market with the most relevant and desired information on your website.

How To Make Your Own Visual Seat Reservation Website For Your Concert

January 23, 2009 by · 9 Comments

If you are familiar with open source php shopping carts, perhaps you are a webmaster or designer and you know someone who could benefit for having a seat reservation website for their special event this could be an affordable solution.

I have adapted open source php shopping carts like osCommerce and Freeway to present products as seats in a grid style that are then available to purchase through the process of a typical shopping cart right from ‘add to cart’ to the completed sale and then present the seat in such a way as to show purchased seats as reserved in a specially presented seat plan of your theatre.

Any web designer familiar with installing php shopping carts can be adept at customizing the code to make the cart suit their needs. I have produced a special ‘How To’ guide to help build a visual seat reservation system for websites just by adapting the core shopping cart and its code. Its very functional and it works splendidly.

Usually the tried and tested way to sell tickets for your show is through a booking agent using a flat database which is a straight list of seat numbers available referenced from a chart of your theatre seat plan. Why not try to bring your seat plan alive by making each seat clickable from the plan on your website and when a seat is reserved disconnect it from the cart and identify all seats reserved as a totally different color. You get thepicture and you’ve seen it already in the hands of professional organisations selling tickets for shows across the web. If you want such a system for your special event I’m sure it will cost you an arm and a leg to own yourself.

I will take the webmaster through a step by step procedure that will show you how build your very own theatre seat reservation system that can be used again and again. Simply by adapting a core php shopping cart that uses the same principles that so many merchants use for their shopping cart stores all across the internet. All for just a fraction of the cost that a professional design studio would charge.

If you have a special event planned and you want your visitors to reserve or purchase their own seats visually this could be the tool for you.
