The Differences of Metal Roofing and Traditional Shingles

March 13, 2009 by

Michigan metal roof companies will be able to explain the pros and cons of metal roofing versus asphalt shingles to you. Eighty percent of homes in America are covered with asphalt shingles. At one time metal roofing was only used for barns and commercial buildings. However with all of the improvements in the material, the manufacturing methods and finishes this has become a very popular choice for residential roof surfaces. Especially the Victorian metal tile recreations.

When comparing metal roofing with other materials you will see that it is head and shoulders above the rest in several areas. First lets look at the life expectancy of the product. Asphalt shingles have a life of between 12 to 40 years depending on the area of the country that you live in. Metal roofs are expected to withstand the elements for anywhere from 20 to 50 years. Check with your Michigan metal roof company for warranty information on the product you select.

Over time asphalt shingles have been known to rot and have mildew issues. Where as metal roofs are resistant to these and other issues such as fire and insects.
When installing a new roof surface made from asphalt shingles, the existing surface must be removed, also known as tear off. With a metal roof it can usually be installed over your existing roof, thus eliminating additional work and clean up.

Most often the biggest disadvantage to purchasing a metal roof is the initial cost. It can be very expensive to buy and have installed. However, if you intend to live in your home for a long time you will see your investment repaid with a virtually maintenance free roof. Check with different Michigan roof companies for the best prices.

You mean a liner for a canale? You'd probably have to go to a sheet metal fabricator unless you are good at bending the stuff yourself. If there are a lot of those style roofs, call a roofing contractor and ask who does their metal work……I doubt many say, "we do it ourselves."

I'm not super-rich or poor, so where do I fit in your ridiculously over exaggerated stats? The terribly sad thing about this is that the "99%" of poor people still get a fair shot at being one of the "evil rich" in this country if I'm not mistaken. Hmmm, I must watch too much Fox news.

Okay so not very long for an intro…I know I should probably have some kind of thesis? From here I want to go on to touch upon the dangers of other sweeteners before dedicating the rest of report to Stevia. I also want to touch upon the manufacturing methods as well, briefly.

    Marlene,
Don't worry. You're actually just fine. I use a Foodsaver nearly religiously. When I do so some items do end up feeling as “hard as a brick” but the majority of that is because all of the air is sucked out of it. I've used the FS to store dry noodles mixes, beans, etc. And they have all been just fine. (Taste and otherwise) Technically speaking the Foodsaver method is mimicking manufacturing methods, just on a smaller scale. Once you add the necessary moisture, you won't notice a difference. Just an idea, while I use the Foodsaver, many times I used it in addition to the product's original wrapping, just as an added measure and to help me from having to re-label items as well.
Thanks for you question. Keep up the great work.
