The 6th chapter of Revelation records the first six seals of the great tribulation on the earth. First, there is a period of false peace, followed by war, famine, death of ¼ of the world’s population, martyrdom of Christians and terror that begins with an enormous earthquake. Chapter 7 is an interlude between the breaking of the 6th and 7th seal. Chapter 6 ends with a question, “…for the great day of their wrath has come; and WHO IS ABLE TO STAND?” This question is answered at the beginning of Chapter 7: “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads.” These 144,000 are Jewish believers who will be sealed from those on earth after the beginning of the tribulation to proclaim the gospel. An example of marking or sealing holy people is found in Ezekiel 9:3-6. Who these 144,000 are is also explained in Malachi 3:16-4:1, as well as the 11th Chapter of Romans (particularly verses 24-29). Apparently, the work of these evangelists will be very successful, as noted in Rev. 7:9-17, where a great multitude of tribulation saints which no one could count is worshipping before the throne of God and before the Lamb in heaven.

In arriving at their “heavenly class” doctrine, the Watchtower takes the number 144,000 to be literal, but they discard the explanation in the verses that follow as figurative because the 12 tribes mentioned do not match the actual 12 tribes of Israel. Concerning the tribe of Ephraim, I believe the answer is found in Isaiah 7:8: “"For the head of Aram is Damascus and the head of Damascus is Rezin (now within another 65 years Ephraim will be shattered, {so that it is} no longer a people).” The answer of why Dan is not included could be that Judas was from the tribe of Dan. Acts 1:16 says, “Brethren, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.” That can be followed to Psalm 109:8-13: “Let his days be few; Let another take his office…Let his posterity be cut off; In a following generation let their name be blotted out.”

Even if there were some way the Watchtower teaching about the limit of 144,000 people going to heaven could be true, how could there have been any openings left when their founder, Charles Russell came on the scene in 1880? In the book of Acts, there are at least 100,000 people saved, and this was only the beginning of Christianity. Estimates are there were at least 250,000 Jews in the early church plus thousands of Gentiles. Also, there were well over 250,000 early Christian martyrs who would surely be included in the number. It seems pretty obvious the openings would have all been filled during the apostolic age or shortly thereafter.

But let’s keep pretending they could be right. At one point, Russell stated that as of Oct. 3, 1881, the number of chosen ones was completed and no one could become a member of the heavenly class after that date (Zion’s Watch Tower, 10/11 1881, p. 3). At some later point, the WTS apparently decided that Russell’s application of Scripture was incorrect, and they opened the door for 52,465 more, but they stated membership was limited to those baptized prior to 1935. (According to this reasoning, from the time of the apostles until 1880 (over 1800 years), God only found 91,535 faithful Christians who were worthy of a heavenly calling, but during the next 55 years, He found 52,465!) Regardless, if entry into the anointed class was locked in 1935, and only those “whose faith have been tested” and were sealed at that point, what age would that make those people now? For their faith to “have been tested” by 1935, let’s say they were 35 years old (which is a conservative estimate). This would put probably the youngest of those sealed at that time at 100 years old in the year 2000. Following are the numbers of memorial partakers worldwide from 2000 to 2008 as reported by the Watchtower Society:

2000 – 8,661
2001 – 8,730
2002 – 8,760
2003 – 8,565
2004 – 8,570
2005 – 8,524
2006 – 8,758
2007 – 8,730
2008 – 9,986

1) Why is the number of partakers increasing? 2) Are there really nearly 10,000 JWs out there who are age 108 and over? Apparently, they have discovered the fountain of youth!

So, to answer your question, apparently the current JWs are confused about the sign that they are called to heavenly life, or no one told them about the cut-off in 1935. But we can probably expect “new light” on this issue in the very near future.

Alternative treatments for tinnitus

Conventional wisdom says that there is no cure for tinnitus. There are many other alternative tinnitus treatment methods that have been tried with regard to finding some relief for this debilitating condition known as tinnitus which affects about 50 million people in the US alone.

There are many alternative treatments for tinnitus options available to the tinnitus sufferer today:

1. Acupressure: This was originated by the Chinese using this pressure on certain points of the body is thought to help decreasing the level of tinnitus.

2. The Alexander Technique (This is not really an alternative treatment for tinnitus): Here the tinnitus patient is taught posture and other techniques aimed at improving blood flow to the ears which is thought to relieve the symptoms of tinnitus.

3. Aromatherapy: Today aromatherapy treats patients as it is believed to help in reducing the tinnitus.

4. Biofeedback: Biofeedback is a method where people are taught to improve their health by using communications from their own bodies.

5. Deep Breathing: This is helpful in relaxation and in minimizing the stress. It is advised to take 175 deep breaths constantly every hour until tinnitus relief happens.

6. Chiropractic: This helps to improve blood supply to the head and ears which can help with tinnitus in certain individuals.

7. Diet, Vitamin and Nutritional Supplements: diets play a key role in the alternative treatment of tinnitus and vitamin and nutritional supplements help keep your immune system in shape.

8. Lifestyle: Tinnitus sufferers should exercise regularly to help increase blood supply to the head.

9. Massage: Massaging for tinnitus has been found to have some effect. Relief is obtained by using the thumb and index fingers to gently massage the earlobes and edge of the ears.

10. Meditation: It is basically a mind over body technique which helps improving tinnitus as one relaxes and try to concentrate on some other thing other than the symptoms.

11. Reflexology: When one is tired and stressed out tinnitus is at its worst and reflexology can help with relaxation techniques which in turn lead to a lowering of the tinnitus noises.

12. Low Level Laser Therapy: Low Level Laser Treatment (LLLT) for tinnitus has been practiced for about 20 years in Europe and is beginning to be recognized and practiced in Canada.
It stimulates mitochondria in the cells to produce energy through the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Mitochondria are the power supplies of all cells; they metabolize (burn) fuel and produce energy for the cell in the form of ATP. In stimulating the mitochondria, laser therapy can repair damaged tissue and return cells to a healthy state, reversing many degenerative conditions.

Of these, Low level Laser treatments for tinnitus are by far the most successful of all alternative treatments for tinnitus. Low Level Laser treatment is fast being acknowledged and accepted as the only safe treatment that brings positive results. Low Level Laser treatments do not have any side effects and have a long and proven history of relieving tinnitus.

Good Morning Paul,
Your son's embarrasment on being picked up by caravan sounds no way as bad as my Pal Phil Foggitt when he was a schoolboy 50 years ago. His father drove a Meshersmitt Bubble Car. On the occassions his father used to collect him from school Phil and his brother would hide away to save the other kids seeing them in a very un-cool vehicle.
Have a great time at Rockness and I hope you use acoustic wax for your ears. Boots Muffles Wax earplugs. It works really well and seems strange when you see people clapping their hands but there is no noise. The sounds of the music are not affected except reduced in volume and doesn't leave you with ringing in the ears for the next couple of months

Yeah, I have tinnitus too, sucks when it is quiet uh. I have heard of a operation where they can do surgery and fix your hearing and stop that damn ring. Not to sure, had the option when in the Army, kinda kicking myself cause could have got that for free but did not trust army doctors nor the surgery, just know that there is something out there and it is probally very expensive.
